A 10 ft cat leash for walking a cat that already wears a harness. It is a round 8 mm rope with reflective threads woven in, a foam-padded loop handle at one end and a black snap hook on a swivel at the other.
Clip it to a harness, never to a collar. A cat collar is built to release under pressure, which is exactly what you do not want holding a cat on a lead. The leash attaches to the ring on the back of a harness, where the pull is spread across the body instead of the throat.
Ten feet is long enough that a cat can stop, sniff and change direction without towing you, and you can loop the spare rope into your hand when a dog or a car appears. Keep it loose. A leash held taut is what makes a cat brace and back up.
The Pawhold harness already comes with a 4 ft lead. This is the longer one, for when your cat is ready for more room.
Goes with
How it attaches
Clip it to a harness, never to a collar
A cat collar is built to come undone when it snags. That is exactly what you want from something worn all day around the house, and exactly what you do not want from the thing holding your cat on a walk.
- The clip goes on the back of the harnessA pull is then spread across the chest and shoulders instead of loading the throat.
- A cat that reverses out of a collar is loose in about a secondThere is no second attempt once that happens outdoors.
- Fit the harness indoors firstAdd this lead only once your cat walks around the house in the harness without freezing.

Length
Why ten feet
The lead that comes with the harness is 4 ft, which is right for a hallway or a first outing. Ten feet is for the stage after that. Cats do not walk the way dogs walk: short bursts, a minute reading a smell, then a change of direction without warning. A short lead turns every one of those pauses into a tug.
Slack to explore
Your cat can step off the path, sit under a bush and come back without you moving.
Gather it when you need to
When a dog, a car or a stranger appears, loop the spare rope into your hand. The handle stays on your wrist while you do it.
Keep it loose, not taut
Tension is what makes a cat brace, flatten and reverse. A lead that hangs in a soft curve is doing its job.
Reflective threads
Reflective threads are woven into the rope, so it shows up in a torch beam or a headlight at dusk.

First walks
Four rules for the first outings
You are following, not walking them. Steering a cat by the lead ends the walk faster than anything else.
- 1Start in the hallwayFirst sessions indoors, lead attached, going nowhere. Outside comes after your cat ignores it completely.
- 2Let the cat pick the routeYour cat chooses where to go and how long to stay. You keep the lead in a soft curve.
- 3Hold the loop, not the middleHandle around the wrist, spare length in the same hand, so a sudden bolt does not pull it out of your fingers.
- 4Never tether and walk awayA lead is for walking beside your cat. It is not a tie-out. An unattended cat on a line can tangle and panic.

You are covered
The lead, and nothing you did not ask for
One 10 ft rope lead in black. It is the longer option: the harness already comes with a 4 ft lead, and you still need a harness for your cat to wear this safely. 30-day returns, free shipping, and a person at info@pawhold.com.
What do I attach this leash to?
The ring on the back of a cat harness. Never a collar. A cat collar is designed to release when it snags, so it cannot be trusted to hold a cat that panics and pulls.
How long is it?
About 10 ft. The maker lists it at 300 cm (118 in), and buyers who measured found between 280 and 300 cm.
Does the Pawhold harness come with a leash?
Yes, a 4 ft one. This 10 ft lead is the longer option for when your cat is ready for more room. Both clip to the ring on the back of the harness.
Is an 8 mm rope right for a cat?
The maker sells this thickness for small dogs and puppies, and buyers use it on dogs from about 3 kg. It is thicker than the flat 4 ft lead in the harness pack, and the maker does not state its weight. For a kitten or a very small cat, stay with the 4 ft lead.
My cat flops over or freezes when the leash goes on. Is that normal?
Very normal, and it usually passes. Go back indoors, clip the lead on and let it trail while your cat does something it enjoys. Keep sessions to a few minutes. Do not pull, and do not lift the cat by the lead.
Can I tie my cat outside with it?
No. This is for walking beside your cat while you hold the handle. A cat left alone on a line can wrap it around a leg or a branch and injure itself trying to get free.
